HIRESTRATEGY CEO SAYS MOST WORKERS LAID OFF BY AOL TIME WARNER SHOULD QUICKLY FIND NEW JOBS

Most workers laid off this week by AOL Time Warner should encounter few problems landing new jobs, according to Paul Villella, President and CEO of HireStrategy, a Reston-based Web-enabled recruiting firm serving technology businesses and professionals.

"AOL hires good people, and those who have been laid off are among the most talented in the industry," says Villella. "They weren't let go because of performance issues, but because of AOL's merger with Time Warner."

Villella says HireStrategy is fielding a large number of e-mails, faxes, phone calls and visits to its Web site (www.hirestrategy.com ) from AOL workers who have been let go. "We know a lot of people at AOL and they seem to see us as the 'go-to' firm to help them find new jobs."

He predicts there may be further lay-offs at AOL's Dulles, Virginia-based Internet Division as AOL Time Warner seek further cost savings and operating efficiencies.
