This Hirestrategy client is a leader in providing information to the academic community through out the nation.
We are seeking a Senior Developer to perform full life-cycle development for web-based applications, enterprise integration, ad systems generation and social networking development. Under the direction of the Director of Product Engineering, this person will develop innovative, best-in-class and easy-to-use web and mobile solutions targeted to users at academic institutions and non-profit organizations. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who has mastered multiple skills and is passionate about software usability and development.
Key Responsibilities: Determine best practices for the application development team as well as overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions for multiple applications. Conceptualize and initiate solutions to complex software integration Develop and maintain a collaborative work environment between Project Management, Development team and all business units. Assist in the estimation of work for the technologies team by defining task breakdown, project duration and concurrent effort. Actively involved in production issues by providing lead technical support in identifying, evaluating, and developing solutions Work with the technology team to guide the design of new applications to support business needs. Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system. Provide leadership and work guidance to junior developers as well as overseeing their design approach and perform guidance and code reviews as needed Work with Tech Support organization to effectively diagnose the field escalated issues to identify appropriate resolution for the issues. Provide insight and evaluation regarding the latest technological solutions as they pertain to development and implementation objectives. Act as initial escalation point for issues and problems associated with applications performance and deliverables.
Minimum Job Requirements:  Expert knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in MySQL, Apache, Linux, Tomcat, Java, CSS, JS, CMS, CRM and strong PHP experience  Expert systems administration experience and understanding of virtualization, load balancing and web-hosting terminology  Expert experience with dynamic Web publishing and database technologies  Extensive experience with application integrations.  Experience configuring, integrating and debugging third-party applications  Knowledge of basic project management principles  Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and SQL programming  Working knowledge of mobile applications for one or more mobile platforms, including Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, and iPhone a plus  Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology  Ability to provide estimations, risk assessments, and meet deliverables in a timely manner and work overtime if necessary to meet deliverable date  Ability to perform in demanding multi-tasking environments  Experience in architectural design implemenation  Ability to work well independently and as part of a team  Excellent oral and written communication skills  Must have the ability to motivate people, promote team work, exhibits initiative  Lead code reviews and ensuring quality of code at all times
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other technical field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Experience:
8+ years of full life cycle development experience. This includes mainly software design and implementation but also includes unit/feature testing, debugging, and other maintenance tasks. Design experience should entail large scale applications centered around web-based applications, content management and CRM systems Proficiency in PHP, HTML, Java, JavaScript, MySQL, Linux, Tomcat, web based applications, system development, scripting languages (SQL / PERL). Experience with agile/SCRUM preferred. Lead architect experience a major plus 2+ years experience integrating a CMS application a plus Experience with version control systems such as Subversion or CVS |
