Post: Area Economy "Slowed, but Not Stalled"
The Washington Post on Monday published its highly anticipated annual listing of the
top 200 companies in the Washington metropolitan area, along with a special Business Section that surveyed and assessed the performance of the area economy, headlined "Slowed, but Not Stalled." Today we take a look at the implications of the survey.
An argument can be made that while American men are in a recession, American women are not. Men are concentrated in the two sectors that are doing the worst, manufacturing and construction, while women are concentrated in sectors that are still growing, such as education and health care.
Ethics are, or should be, a component of job interviews, and taking ethics seriously is beneficial not just for the employer but also for the applicant. Here's a look at the ways ethical behavior before and during an interview can lead to getting the job you want.
This year's tally of accounting graduates is the largest number in the 36 years that the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has been tracking the data. Finally, employers are sweetening job offers for high-demand candidates, with benefits previously reserved for workers already in the company, such as flexible schedules and work-from-home arrangements.
