Addison Group is hiring on behalf of our client, a well-established transportation company in the Port Arthur/Beaumont area. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic yet hands-on safety leader who is passionate about regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and building a strong culture of safety. The organization is seeking a professional who can partner with leadership to enhance safety performance, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement across transportation operations.


Position Overview:

The Safety Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the company's safety and compliance programs. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations, along with a proven track record of building and managing safety initiatives that improve driver performance, mitigate risk, and ensure regulatory compliance.

This individual will serve as a key business partner to operations leadership, providing guidance and accountability while fostering a culture where safety is a core organizational value. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading safety programs across multiple locations, conducting audits, investigating incidents, analyzing safety trends, and implementing corrective actions that drive measurable results.

Candidates from transportation, logistics, trucking, fleet management, environmental services, or related industries are strongly encouraged to apply. Professional certifications such as CSP, OSHA, or similar credentials are preferred but not required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee company-wide safety programs across transportation operations.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Monitor safety metrics, identify trends, and develop strategies to improve overall safety performance.
  • Lead driver safety training, coaching, and compliance initiatives.
  • Conduct safety audits and maintain accurate regulatory documentation and reporting.
  • Partner closely with operations leadership to promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on risk reduction, compliance, and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive safety leadership experience within transportation, logistics, trucking, fleet operations, or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and transportation safety regulations.
  • Experience managing fleet safety programs and driver compliance initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading safety programs across multiple locations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • CSP, OSHA, or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
