Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team. This position will be responsible for supporting full-cycle payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees in a fast-paced, project-based environment. The ideal candidate will have experience handling union payroll, maintaining payroll accuracy, and ensuring compliance with payroll laws and reporting requirements. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to step in quickly to support a growing organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Ensuring accurate calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, taxes, and benefits
- Maintaining payroll records and ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Processing union payroll in accordance with collective bargaining agreements
- Calculating and tracking union dues, fringe benefits, and related contributions
- Supporting payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audit requests
- Handling payroll for field-based employees, including labor allocations and job costing support
- Assisting with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance when applicable
- Utilizing payroll systems to process payroll and generate reports for management
- Responding to employee payroll questions and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Supporting year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and related processes
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Qualified candidates will have:
- 3+ years of payroll experience
- Experience processing union payroll
- Experience working in construction, contracting, or other project-based environments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with UKG required; Paylocity experience is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
